This year's event will take place from April 29th through May 1st at the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport in Grapevine, TX. Today marks the first day of VIP badge sales for the event, and these badges ALWAYS sell out very, very fast. The perks of the VIP badge include early admission to the event, parties, swag bags, a year's subscription to TFW sponsor Fangoria, a free autograph, and much more! It's really the best way to go. Get it now or suffer the scalpers and lines later! Check out the link below to head over to the TFW store. I'll see you there!
Returning to Texas Frightmare Weekend in a rare convention appearance will be the master of the dead himself, George Romero. Romero is the director of Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Martin, Knightriders, Creepshow, and many, many more. He is also a wonderful guest. One of my most treasured possessions is a photo of myself with the big man from a TFW event about 6 years ago. He is a very kind man, but be prepared to stand in line, because he's bound to be a huge draw!
Next up is the Candyman himself, Tony Todd. This mellifluous gentleman first made a name for himself by playing the deadly Candyman in a series of popular horror features starting with the Clive Barker directed original. Following that he's had a wonderful run as the all-knowing undertaker in the cheesy as hell but always fun Final Destination films. Todd is one guest I've never had the pleasure of meeting, so I'm definitely looking forward to it.
The final initial announcement is the appearance of Kane Hodder. Hodder is definitely best known as the man behind the hockey mask in Friday the 13th Part 7 through Jason X. He has also been the big baddie in the gory throwback Hatchet series as Victor Crowley, but by all accounts this gentle giant with "kill" tattooed inside his lip is also a big softie and a very friendly guy. Definitely someone to make room for in your schedule!
