And it wasn't too long after that when series creator Nic Pizzolatto dropped the first hints on the anthology style series' 2nd season, which would feature some kind of conspiracy mixed up with the history of the American Highway System. Zoinks.
With a June 21 premiere, HBO dropped our first glimpse of this all-new, all different True Detective today. Featuring glowers and grimaces from law enforcement officers Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, and Taykor Kitsch, plus a few patented Vince Vaughn smirks, who plays an intersecting career criminal, it's a mood piece to be sure. No dialog. No story context. Kinda lazy execution, in my opinion, a slap-dash job done... 'cause HBO damn sure knows we'll be tuning in, so why bother with pizazz, when they've got Pizzolatto? Okay, yeah... sorry 'bout that.
The first two episode are directed by Fast & Furious 6 helmer Justin Lin, a man who sure knows how to film a road 563 different ways, and then some.
