Fan-Animated STAR WARS: TIE FIGHTER Lets The Empire Strike Back

Filling in for our resident Jedi Master Jason Gorber, the once vibrant pre-teen Star Wars fan in me is just giddy over animator Paul Johnson's stellar, 80s Anime-inspired short film Star Wars: TIE Fighter.

Fans of the classic Star Wars flight sims X-Wing and TIE Fighter, as well as Macross, will be at home here, with Johnson's painstakingly detailed animation and frenetic, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants action. The seven minute short, consisting of an Imperial deep space attack on Rebel forces (opening with Gorber's favorite Probot), took four years worth of weekends for Johnson to put together. I would say the Force is strong with this one, but we're rooting for the Imperials here, so...
