South African documentary film-maker Tarryn Crossman appears to be fearless. Her first feature documentary, Fatherland, embedded her in a commando-style bush camp for boys with a group of brainwashing Afrikaner extremists. Hyena Boys was a three-year side project to track down an elusive band of nomadic animal handlers who trap and raise hyenas in Nigeria. 

"We got there to find burly Nigerian men, huge hyenas and a lot of marijuana," says Crossman. "We thought we were going to die."

I'll add that the film won Best Documentary Short at the California International Shorts Festival earlier this year, and that Spotted Hyenas have the strongest bite of any mammal. Take a look at the trailer below.
