Indian Indie Superstar Anurag Kashyap Is Hunting For His Next Project, Could It Be Yours?

Anurag Kashyap, director of Cannes success Gangs of Wasseypur, is taking a break from writing his own films and has put out a challenge to up and coming screenwriters: "Give me an [sic] un-filmable film somebody. Something new, taut, complete script."

India's undisputed king of the independents is taking a well-deserved break from writing his own films. Kashyap is, in his own words, "bored" with his own ideas and is seeking a new challenge. The director's last two films, the five and a half hour epic crime story Gangs of Wasseypur, and the missing child story, Ugly, both stormed the international film festival circuit, and Kashyap has almost single-handedly put India on the map in terms of places to look for cutting edge cinema. He's currently putting the finishing touches on what looks to be among his most mainstream work so far, the Ranbir Kapoor/Anushka Sharma film, Bombay Velvet.

When he's not busy directing, he's extremely active as a producer, with his AKFPL production house and the newer Phantom Films both cranking out numerous indie and mainstream features every year. One can't really blame him for feeling a bit of fatigue. As such, he's taken the unusual step of asking for new, novel, COMPLETE scripts to make as his next personal project.

I spoke with Kashyap over the weekend and he confirmed that this is a legit script hunt. He even mentioned that he's willing to consider scripts from outside of India, but for prospects to be aware that any copyrighted script will need to adapted to Hindi to fit the local market in India.

Do you think your script is what he's looking for? Send your complete, copyrighted script to Phantom Films via vishakha@phantoms.in or scripts@phantoms.in
