I'm interested to see Boyle spread his wings. Having met the man very briefly after one of his screenings at the Asian Film Festival of Dallas several years ago, he's the sort of unassuming character that doesn't look like he has a thrill a minute seat-gripper in him. However, he is a great writer and has a very distinct visual style that he appears to be leaving behind in favor of trying something completely outside of his comfort zone, and I respect the hell out of that.
Man From Reno premieres this Sunday, May 14th at the LA Film Festival and hopefully it makes the festival rounds because I'm keenly interested in anything he gets his hands on. Here's the very brief clip in which Fujitani Ayako gets some paranoid inklings, but is it really paranoia if they're actually out to get you?
