There's a certain delicious irony in the fact that James Ward Byrkit's indie scifi
Coherence winning multiple best screenplay nods while on the festival circuit. Why ironic? Because as deliciously twisty and cerebral as the film is, and as much as Byrkit certainly had a detailed blueprint in his mind as they went through the process,
Coherence is a film literally created with no script. Instead Byrkit gathered a team of skilled improvisational actors and told each only the bare minimum of what they needed to know about their characters and motivations, what each needed to accomplish at key junctures, then wound the whole machine up and let it play out. And the results are remarkable.
On the night of an astrological anomaly, eight friends at a dinner party experience a troubling chain of reality bending events. Part cerebral sci-fi and part relationship drama, COHERENCE is a tightly focused, intimately shot film that quickly ratchets up with tension and mystery.
Coherence hits the big screen on June 20th from Oscilliscope Laboratories and the new theatrical trailer is freshly on the scene. Check it out below.
