An elementary school teacher named Yui visits the home of a boy named Toshio Saeki who's been absent from school for a long period of time. When she arrives, she re-lives the horrific tragedy which occurred in the Saeki household 10 years earlier. A cardboard box left in a closet holds the key to revealing a long-hidden truth.
Given that Beginning of the End repeats a well-known formula, it won't really be a surprise if instead of settling the mood the film will focus on formulaic jump scares to keep the horror alive. There's potential still hidden in the concept but without a much-needed creative touch Beginning of the End's chances of becoming a J-horror marvel are rather slim. So, let's hope Ochiai Masayuki will breathe fresh air into the series.
