He expected his time in Angola to be more of the same but Kapuscinski was wrong, his experiences there defining him for life and driving him to cross the line between journalist and participant.
And now Kapuscinski's experiences in Angola are coming to the big screen thanks to an adaptation of his autobiographical Another Day Of Life coming from directors Raul de la Fuente and Damian Nenow. And if Nenow's name sounds familiar that's because we've covered his work before. Nenow is the director of acclaimed animated short film Paths Of Hate. Which should give you a hint on why this film has two directors.
Another Day Of Life blends historical events - Kapuscinski's stories from the book - delivered in animation while de la Fuente brings to the table a more conventional documentary approach, reaching out to surviving figures and those who lived through the events at hand for the memories as well. The result looks absolutely astounding, as made clear by the trailer below. Truly remarkable.
