After making some slick thrillers, period martial arts and even rom-coms, Victor Vu, the director of Blood Letter, will return to horror territory with Bloody Heart (Quả tim máu). This time he'll join with character actor Thai Hoa, the popular Vietnamese comedy star, a bizarre combination to say the least.
Based on the famous play written by Thai Hoa himself, Bloody Heart promises to scare audiences but also provoke unpredictable laughter. Thai Hoa will play the lead - a shy guy who is having a secret affair with a dead girl.
Bloody Heart tells the story of a bridegroom who escorts his new wife to Da Lat resort after heart transplant surgery. But the new heart in her chest is cursed, causing the ghost of a strange young girl to appear, which leads the couple into a frightening nightmare.
Victor Vu aims to make a very different story than the original play, with his own surprise ending. He's said that this will be a thriller, but the kaleidoscope of Thai Hoa's talent will bring new colors to his thriller style.
Bloody Heart is currently in pre-production and will begin shooting in July. It's expected to be finished in time for a December release in local theatres.
