One of the brightest lights in the Icelandic film scene, Ragnar Bragason - director of
Children and
Parents - is now deep into post production on his latest feature
Metalhead.Known for his ability to balance drama with humor, Bragason here works with actors Þorbjörg Helga Dýrfjörð (Baltasar Kormakur's
The Deep), Ingvar E. Sigurðsson (
Jar City) and Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir (
Polite People) to tell a tale Bragason describes as being about "a girl, heavy metal and cows. Metalhead is a dramatic film, both tender and grim with moments of rebellious comedy. It's a story of a terrible loss and how we deal with our griefs, about community and a sense of family, dreams and nightmares."
It's the year 1970 and as Black Sabbath record their first album and
mark the birth of Heavy Metal, Hera Karlsdottir is born on a cowshed
floor.
