Stellar First Trailer For Erik Matti's Hitman Thriller ON THE JOB

ScreenAnarchy has a long history with Filipino director Erik Matti and his hitman thriller On The Job. Based on an actual scandal in which it came out that government officials, prison wardens and gangsters were collaborating to release prisoners on day pass to work as hitmen - the story hit the news when a politician up for re-election hired one of the prison killers to execute his rival in the election - ScreenAnarchy first came across and ran a proof of concept Matti shot for the project all the way back in January of 2010.

That early reel was - and still is, you can see it here - an absolutely phenomenal piece of work, one that promised to launch Matti to a degree of interntional recognition that he had never had until that point. We compared it to the work of Johnnie To, ourselves, and I still think that comparison stands.

But promising or not, this is simply not the sort of film that gets made in the Philippines and it has been a long road from conception to execution, if you'll pardon the pun. But the picture is in the can now and making its way through post production and the first trailer has just arrived. And, hot damn, that early promise has been fully realized. Check it out below.
