Nineteen years after the death of River Phoenix the young star's final film has been completed and will finally be seen by audiences at the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht on September 27th.
Dutch director George Sluizer - best known as the director of The Vanishing - was deep into production of Dark Blood with Phoenix, Jonathan Price, Karen Black and Judy Davis when Phoenix passed and in October of 2011 he announced his intention to complete the film with the stated intention of recruiting River's brother Joaquin to do some voice work to wrap things up.
The Phoenix family publicly rejected the notion and while it is unknown at this point how that particular situation resolved itself the film is now complete and will premiere as part of a retrospective of the director's work.
