I've Found My Soulmate In Manchu Manoj. New UU KODATHARA ULIKKI PADATHARA Trailer Proves It

So far I've only seen him in trailers, but Manchu Manoj may be my soulmate. This star of last spring's Mr. Nokia and the upcoming Uu Kodathara Ulikki Padathara is an action machine. The trailer for Mr. Nokia was insane, and made sure to let the audience know that all of the stunt work was done my Manoj himself. Normally that wouldn't be a huge deal as big Indian film stars do that all the time, though usually they are strapped into big harnesses, but the stuff Manoj was doing was different. This kid is insane, doing crazy car stunts with no stunt driver and jumping from the second story of mall complexes are only the tip of the iceberg. Mr. Nokia never played locally and has yet to hit DVD for me to check it out, but the 3 minutes he gave me in the trailer was enough to make me a believer.

This new project teams Manchu Manoj's new-school swagger with the old dog of crazy Telugu action, Nandamuri Balakrishna (NBK). In this film Manoj appears to be the young upstart with attitude (and a crazy impressive collection on antiquarian weaponry), while Balakrishna is some kind of supernatural lord. There are a few new twists in this new trailer that weren't there in the first, which includes the supernatural elements as well as some quick glances at the songs.

Manoj has been frantically working on the film with the editors to get it just right for the last month or so, and I'm really hoping it ends up being as great as it looks like it could be. The Manchu family, which includes Indian film legend Mohan Babu and UKUP's producer, Lakshmi Manchu (Once Upon a Warrior), has quite the reputation in south India, and this could be the film that puts Manchu Manoj on the A-list.  I'm extremely psyched up. The distributors are aiming to get a lot of prints into theaters, though my guess is that none will have subtitles. Hopefully it's got more action than plot, because I'm really looking forward to it.

Ladies and gents, gird your eyeballs and give you soul to Uu Kodathara Ulikki Padathara!
