Audiences at the just-concluded ActionFest were given a look at Gareth Huw Evans' The Raid: Redemption as a special sneak preview before the film arrived on local screens. The Raid's creators have a history with the festival, director Evans' previous collaboration with star Iko Uwais - Merantau - winning Best Film at the inaugural edition of the festival and so Evans, Uwais and co-star Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) wanted to send along a special hello. It does, of course, involve violence. You will find it below for your viewing pleasure.
And for those wondering, I've seen them do this in person and, no, Uwais does not hold back. When I first met Ruhian I was asked if I wanted to punch him in the stomach myself. The man does a lot of work on his core.
The Raid: Redemption is now playing on 800+ screens across America.
