Darren Aronofsky Will Cross The Delaware With THE GENERAL

Darren Aronofsky is a busy man these days, a busy man with aims to make nothing but films about American icons in the coming years if his current slate is anything to judge by.

Currently gearing up to shoot his Biblical fantasy Noah with Russell Crowe - and, granted, Noah's not American - Aronofsky is already attached to bio-pics concerning Jackie Onassis and Judy Garland but according to Variety the one he really wants to make is George Washington bio-pic The General.

While nobody is talking any great specifics comparisons are being made to Unforgiven when it comes to the Adam Cooper / Bill Collage script, which is certainly an interesting approach. Paramount have a first look option on films developed at Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures, so those conversations are happening now. Should Paramount pass then Aronofsky will be free to shop this elsewhere, just as he did with Noah, and expectations are this will be his next picture following the great flood.
