Wes Anderson's MOONRISE KINGDOM To Open Cannes

Wes Anderson is headed to Cannes.

Moonrise Kingdom - the latest from the director of Bottle Rocket and The Royal Tennenbaums - has been officially announced as the opening night film of the world's most prestigious film festival with the screening set for May 16th, the same day it opens in France. Moonrise Kingdom will open May 25th in the USA.

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the 1960s, as a young boy and girl fall in love they are moved to run away together. Various factions of the town mobilize to search for them and the town is turned upside down -- which might not be such a bad thing.
Ed Norton, Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Jason Schwartzmann, Tilda Swinton and Harvey Keitel fill out the adult population of the film with Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman leading the youngsters.
