William Fichtner gives good villain. Anybody who has seen Drive Angry can tell you that. And while that film failed to find the audience that it deserves Fichtner's performance in it seems to have caught the eye of Hollywood's power brokers.
The veteran character actor has just wrapped a significant role in Neill Blomkamp's Elysium and, fresh from that, it has just been announced that Fichtner will be replacing Dwight Yoakam as the villain in Gore Verbinski's upcoming The Lone Ranger. And, frankly, this is to me a far more interesting move than Johnny Depp as Tonto.
