Liv Tyler Leads Ti West's SciFi Chiller THE SIDE EFFECT

House of the Devil and The Innkeepers director Ti West hinted that things were moving forward on his long gestating scifi picture The Side Effect in a recent interview and now it's official. Liv Tyler has been cast in the lead of the outer space set psychological chiller that will be introduced to the international market by sales agents Celluloid Nightmares at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin. Ted Hope (Super) will produce with Peter Phok (House of the Devil, The Innkeepers).

To quote Deadline:

Tyler will play Catherine Rigby, a woman who spends several months alone in space as an experimental subject for a global pharmaceutical company, and finds herself inexplicably pregnant. Paranoia and hysteria reign as the truth behind conception grows more elusive and she remains stranded in space.

On a personal note - and in the interests of full disclosure - Celluloid Nightmares is the sales company operated as a joint venture between Celluloid Dreams and XYZ Films, the company where I am a partner. Which means I've had the privilege over the past few months of watching my partners help put the final pieces together on the finances to get this thing rolling and we could not possibly be more pleased or excited to be involved with Ti, Ted and Peter. My feelings about West's last couple films are a matter of public record - I'm all over the ad campaign for House Of The Devil calling it the best American horror film of its year, which I firmly believe to be true - and I expect no less of this.
