In the hands of a director less skilled than South Korea's Yoo Ha a film like Howling would have all the makings of bad B-grade pulp. A police thriller revolving around an apparent case of spontaneous human combustion and a killer dog, it's the sort of premise that stretches believability to the extreme but Yoo is one of the best in the game and he's got Korea's go-to leading man - Song Kang-ho in the lead.
