You know why geeks love Joss Whedon? Because he's one of us, with the added benefit of being smarter than most on a very regular basis. As a writer Whedon has never forgotten the things that made him fall in love with genre pictures in the first place and he seems to delight in twisting familiar elements into intriguing and surprising new shapes. And, oh yes, that's very much what he's up to with The Cabin In The Woods.
Scripted by Whedon and directed by Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard, The Cabin In The Woods was meant to be Thor star Chris Hemsworth's big screen coming out party.
