In our NYFF 2011 wrap-up , Peter Gutierrez said of Corman's World: The Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel, Alex Stapleton's doc on moviemaking maniac Roger Corman:
Super smart, yet made with a fan's enthusiasm and boasting some unexpectedly revealing scenes about other filmmakers (I have more fondness for both Jack Nicholson and Ron Howard after seeing it), this is really a film made with a ScreenAnarchy mentality in mind. Everything from Bergman to cheesy scifi flicks of the '50s (and cheesy Syfy flicks of today) is covered, and it's all presented at a nice pace and great sense of proportion for the many stages of Corman's career. Really, really not to be missed.Yep, if you're a Corman fan this sounds like the bee's knees. Here are the deets: Corman's World opens in NYC on December 16th. ScreenAnarchy has 10 pairs of run- of-engagement passes (good to any showing of the film at the Village East Cinemas, Mon.-Thur., beginning ON December 19th). All you gotta do to win a pair is drop me an email with the subject line CORMAN TIX, and give me the names of three Oscar winners that worked with ol' Rog in their early days. Be sure to include your full name and mailing address too. Get those entries in by the evening of December 12th -- 6pm EST. Good luck!
