When we last heard from Norwegian director Aleksander Nordaas he was hard at work on his folklore infused live action feature Thale. And with that project now wending its way through the final stages of post-production Nordaas has cast his thoughts to what comes next. And what comes next looks to be animated feature Morkel The Moss Monster.
Nordaas returns to the traditional folk tales that he loves for the story of a forest creature venturing out of the safe cave that is his home in search of a giant mushroom. The feature version of the story just won the best pitch award at the Closing The Gap international financing forum, meaning it's well on its way to putting the budget together, but Nordaas and company are already at work on a short film using the same characters and environments to work out their visual style. What you see above is the first released still from that project and if this is what we can expect visually then I am very impressed.
We've been told we can expect some footage soon.
