Here's what the filmmakers had to say about the film, written and directed by Jonathan Nix, and produced by Garth Nix, Anna McFarlane and Jonathan Nix:
Created by a small team of Animators over a period of seven years, the film is set in a re-imagined Venice of the 1920's, where the characters have mechanical devices for heads. The film features approx 20,000 pencil on paper drawings, hundreds of water color paintings, as many shots and music cue's as a feature film, and one truly awful flute and tuba duet. Production began with two Animators Jonathan Nix and Shane Ingram, who were joined a few years later by Animators Brendan Williams, Sharon Sanders, and in the last six months Simon Gruer.
