Meryl Streep is playing Margaret Thatcher, one of the key figures in the history of world politics, in the upcoming film THE IRON LADY. Streep said during an interview, "the prospect of exploring the swathe cut through history by this remarkable woman is a daunting and exciting challenge. I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervor and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses - I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own!"
Directed by Phyllida Lloyd (MAMMA MIA!) and co-starring Jim Broadbent as Denis Thatcher, THE IRON LADY is scheduled for release in December this year.
Synopsis: A look at the life of Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep), the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, with a focus on the price she paid for power.
