First Images From Miguel Gomez' EL FIN (THE END)

Director Miguel Gomez will soon be on hand in Montreal for the North American premiere of his recent horror hit El Sanatorio but being busy presenting that film to audiences around the globe hasn't slowed Gomez down on his other ventures.

After completing El Sanatorio Gomez rolled quickly into production on the scifi tinged effort El Fin (The End), a project that he has been working on since his film school days.

I made my short film The End in 2004 while at film school, it was shaped as a short version of these characters and story. It´s funny cause 7 years later I´m finishing El Fin and it´s a little different from what I thought at the beginning.  At first It was going to be a comedy, but now more than a comedy it has some dramatic undertones about the way I perceive us as human beings dealing with life.

Since I was a kid I was really afraid of the end of the world. Thanks to the media coverage of the giant comet ¨Levy Shoemaker¨ that collided with Jupiter back in 1994. I guess I was afraid how the media was talking about the comet and how if it was earth, there wouldn´t be any chance to stop it.

So I had nightmares about the apocalypse and through the years I embraced those nightmares to the point that I started enjoying them. Meteors falling from the sky, the moon colliding with earth, people  running scared on the street.   Some of my favorite movies are the ones about apocalyptic disasters- but one thing I didn´t like is that they focus on the people trying to save the planet, the Nasa, the government. And not that much on the people just realizing the imminent end of their world and lifes.

After a while and overcoming my apocalyptic nightmares and experiencing life a little more,  I recognized that my fear was not really about a comet or a meteor impacting Earth, my fear was about the things that we cannot control. So El Fin became that study of life interrupted from which I wanted to explore how we really have little ¨ends of the world¨ every now and then. Losing a job, losing a friend, the death of some close...even more trivial stuff.  Near Death experiences teach you a lot of what in life really has a meaning, but we keep forgetting.
Gomez has promised that a trailer will arrive for his latest effort soon but in the mean time he has shared the first stills for the picture with ScreenAnarchy. Check out the official synopsis and then take a look at the gallery below.

A small meteorite hits earth and start a wave of theories about a possible end of the world. Nico finds the perfect excuse to recluse himself at home coping with the recent death of his parents.

Since life is not over yet and life is unpredictable, their journey is plagued by unpredictable and crazy situations.
