Fresh off of The Trost Brothers making a big splash at SXSW with their debut feature, The FP, word is out on a second feature from director Jason Trost - one already shot in secret and now in the final stages of post production.
Helmed by Jason Trost while brother Brandon - a highly in demand cinematographer, who has worked on the Crank films and, more recently, on the second Ghost Rider picture - was away shooting another picture, VS is a fresh entry in the current wave of lo-fi superhero pictures. It's a film that Trost describes as Kick Ass meets The Running Man, with Dexter's James Remar playing the lead villain, which you must agree sparks some interest.
One of the impressive bits of The FP was the Trost's ability to create a grimy, tactile alternate world on a budget and that ability is clearly evident here as well. An early promo reel appeared online earlier but has since been removed, pending a bit of buffing and polishing, but in its place ScreenAnarchy is proud to present the first eight official stills from the film below. Yes, that is Uncle Sam with a flame thrower. Rock.Four Super Heroes find themselves abducted by their Arch Nemesis and are forced to compete in a series of challenges in order to save an abandoned town full of kidnapped innocent civilians.
