Exclusive First Look At Guy Maddin's KEYHOLE

Guy Maddin, bluntly, is not just a national treasure here in Canada. He's an international one, one of the most striking and distinctive filmmakers on the face of the planet. He's arthouse gone odd, a true artist whose weird sense of play infests everything he does. And it's really quite surprising that his latest feature, Keyhole, has progressed as far as it has with as little notice as it has received.

Jason Patric, Isabella Rossellini, Udo Kier and Kevin McDonald topline the cast in a project that promises to turn the traditional noir inside out.

A gangster and deadbeat father, Ulysses Pick (Patric), returns home after a long absence. He is toting two teenagers: a drowned girl, Denny, who has mysteriously returned to life; and a bound-and-gagged hostage, who is actually his own teenage son, Manners. Confused Ulysses doesn't recognize his own son, but he feels with increasing conviction he must make an indoor odyssey from the back door of his home all the way up, one room at a time, to the marriage bedroom where his wife Hyacinth (Rossellini) awaits.
We are proud to premiere a quartet of stills from the film here at ScreenAnarchy, all of them by photographer Steve Ackerman. In them you'll get your first look at Jason Patric as Ulysses, Isabella Rossellini as Hyacinth, Udo Kier as Doctor Lemke and - in the one embedded above - Daniel Enright and Olivia Rameau as Big Ed and Rochelle respectively.
