New York, NY (February 1, 2011) - Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman had her first leading movie role at age 16 as the pouffy-haired star of BMX BANDITS, the action comedy about a cache of stolen walkie-talkies, three BMX bike-riding friends and the ruthless bank robbers on their tale. The cult favorite from 1983 makes its long-awaited Blu-ray and DVD debut on March 15, 2011, via Severin Films, with an SRP of $24.98 and $19.98, respectively.

The movie is accompanied by a hilarious vintage interview with the teenaged Kidman and commentary by director Brian Trenchard-Smith.

BMX BANDITS is a high-flying ride to adventure filled with wild stunts, cool bike outfits, creepy innuendo, cheezy synth music, an obnoxious fat kid, and gobs of fast and furious fun as the three young pals are pursued through every graveyard, shopping mall, construction site and waterpark in New South Wales, Australia.

John Ley (Mad Max), David Argue (Razorback) and Bryan Marshall (The Long Good Friday) co-star with Kidman, Oscar winner for The Hours and Best Actress nominee for 2010's Rabbit Hole. Kidman is an icon of modern Hollywood thanks to her performances in such films as To Die For, Eyes Wide Shut and Moulin Rouge, but BMX BANDITS will give her countless fans a look at her earliest work - complete with her natural wild red hair!

The Down Under cult classic - it became a long-building hit on video and cable TV in the 1980s - was directed by "Ozploitation" master Brian Trenchard-Smith (Turkey Shoot, Dead-End Drive In, Stunt Rock). The thrilling and breathtaking cinematography is by future Oscar winner John Seale (The English Patient, Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone).
