In many ways Alan Mak and Felix Chong's The Lost Bladesman feels a bit like a lesser version of Zhang Yimou's Hero. They're clearly going for that same sort of big period epic look and have star Donnie Yen fighting with spear in hand, but they're doing it all with slightly less resources and style.
That said, Hero was a whole lot of movie so there's still plenty of room to be a slightly smaller Hero and still be plenty of movie.
