Absolutely Gorgeous Animation Test For THE CHILDREN'S WORLD

Though you've likely never heard of Danish animator Paw Charlie Ravn my gut feeling is that Ravn will soon be rather well known in the animation world, indeed.

Ravn is in development on a pair of projects right now and the production company - Eye Candy Film - have released an animation test for the first of them, The Children's World.

The Children's World is set in a land where there are no grown ups. The girls and boys of this world live separate: the boys in the city and the girls in the forest. The boys tell stories about the girls and fear them, without ever having seen them.

One day our main character Albert (8) meets a somewhat different boy, Jonas (8). The two of them quickly become good friends and Albert presents Jonas for his group of friends in the city. But it is revealed that Jonas carries a secret - Jonas is in fact a girl.

Albert's friends chase Jonas out of the city, but secretly Albert follows Jonas to the forest and a new world opens up for him. However, Albert's discovery has great consequences for the children's world: The boys attack the girls and a final fight in the forest takes place, where Albert and Jonas after a big struggle successfully manage to make peace between the two enemies.

Created in style the seems to fall in the sweet spot between Miyazaki and Brendan And The Secret Of Kells director Tomm Moore - names that I do not toss around lightly - this appears to be a project that could vault Ravn into the very highest tier of international animation. Absolutely gorgeous. Check the test reel below.
