When Shane Meadows announced his plans to shoot his road movie comedy Le Donk in just five days people thought he was crazy. But then he went and did it anyway and the results were not half bad. And now Indian director Ram Gopal Varma - the man behind brilliant gangster films Company and Ab Tak Chappan, who received death threats over his most recent effort Rakt Charitra - is going one better.
Varma's next feature, an as-yet untitled Telugu language thriller to star Ravi Teja, will be shot in just five days at a zero budget with an eight person crew and the entire production cycle from shooting to release lasting just one month. The shoot will begin February 11th with the film releasing to theaters March 11th. the point, says Varma, is to prove that what matters most in a film is not the money behind it but "a story which excites all concerned and a desire in all of them to see the film happen".
Varma will be working with Puri Jagan and Harish Shanker - credited as co-director and associate director, respectively - on the project with Charmi, Ajay and Subba Raju also in the cast.
