Back in 1972 Charles Bronson starred with Jan-Michael Vincent in Michael Winner's hitman action picture The Mechanic. Jump forward a shade under forty years and now Jason Statham and Ben Foster have taken over the roles.
Con-Air director Simon West - who did three movies people actually cared about in the late 90's / early 00's before dropping off into mostly TV work - takes the reins on this with Donald Sutherland taking a key supporting role. With CBS Films putting the picture on the big screen this looks to be part of a continued push from producers Nu Image / Millennium into theatrical releasing following the successes of The Expendables, Rambo and Bad Lieutenant.
