Lisbeth Salander is going global.
On the heels of the international success of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace has quickly become Hollywood's go to girl when a female cinematic badass is called for. She's already been cast as the lead in Tommy Wirkola's Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters and, according to Deadline, she is the front runner to take the lead in Ridley Scott's upcoming prequel to Alien.
Now, this is all assuming that Scott can work out the studio squabbling - they're butting heads over budget and rating - but the plan is for Rapace and Never Let Me Go star Carey Mulligan to take the leads in the new film, which is a pretty fantastic piece of casting in my book.
