Tollywood Power Star Pawan Kalyan to Make Christ Film

Didn't see this coming.  Telugu film "Power Star" Pawan Kalyan recently held a press conference in Jerusalem to announce a big budget multilingual epic on the lost years of Christ.  From what I've been able to glean, the film takes place sometime between the ages of 12 and 30 in Christ's life and will take place in the Holy Land and India, where some scholars hypothesize that he spent some of those lost years.  The film is planning on using a number of child actors to play Christ and those accompanying him.  Kalyan has a meaty role as some unidentified character in Christ's life that has yet to be named.

I was really looking forward to this, but then I read somewhere that Kalyan has said that this film will be played straight with no song and dance numbers.  Definitely a bold move.  Equally bold is the projected budget of £30 million, a staggering amount for an Indian film.  In addition, the movie will be filmed simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and English, which is becoming a trend that is more popular, perhaps as a way of stemming the frequent unauthorized remakes across languages, and certainly as a way to help recoup that massive budget.

I'm interested to see where this is going, even without the dance numbers.  I'll keep you posted if it ends up looking like something to watch for.
