Anyhow, the trailer is pretty damned good, even if the best I can do is to find copies recorded from TV with an irritating echo. Rajnikanth announced at the official unveiling of the trailer that the official release date was September 24th. Rajni lied. Sun Pictures yesterday put out an official release that the worldwide release date is now set for October 1st. I can finally start arranging for a babysitter!
The film will be released on 3000 screens worldwide, a record for an Indian film, and in 3 languages simultaneously. I cannot explain in words the experience of seeing Superstar Rajni in action, it must be seen to be believed. Many films were scheduled to compete on or around Enthiran's projected release date of September 24th-October 15th, including Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra, but almost everyone has ceded the first couple of weeks to Superstar Rajni and the steamroller this film is almost certain to become. One theater in Chennai even has scheduled 60 shows per day, on 10 screens. This is some next level stuff. Enjoy the insanity that is the official trailer, and please, seek this movie out, especially if you've never seen a south Indian film. You owe it to yourself to at least give it a shot.
