Ram Gopal Varma Dives Into Factional Violence With True Life, Two Part Epic RAKTA CHARITRA

Indian director Ram Gopal Varma is best known around these parts for his gritty, hard edged treatments of gangster culture in films such as Company. And now he's taking that edgy approach and applying it to the real life story of slain Indian faction leader Paritala Ravi in the two part Rakta Charitra.

Shot in three languages and boasting two of India's biggest stars in Vivek Oberoi and Surya, the film is already taking some serious criticism a full month before its scheduled release with various groups appealing to the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission and the censorship board to block the film on the grounds that it will promote "violence and factionalism".

I certainly can't claim to be an expert on the real life events that the films portray so I'm going to stay out of that particular argument but as a film this looks like impressive, edgy stuff. Check the trailers for both installments below. And if anyone knows where I can get versions without the third-party watermarks, I'd appreciate it.
