In what strikes me as a strangely early announcement - read: they're trying not to be completely overshadowed by Cannes - the Venice Film Festival has just announced that Quentin Tarantino will head the jury for the 2010 edition of the festival.
I'm kidding in the headline (sort of) and actually think Tarantino is very well suited to this sort of role. He knows his stuff and is passionate in support of what he likes, two factors that can lead to some surprising choices. Like the attention given to Oldboy in Tarantino's year on the Cannes jury. Time will tell if Venice has anything as edgy.
