Well, hello there Olly Reid and DEUS.
This one came to me thanks to the ever vigilant eye of frequent contributor Captain Awesome and I can only assume that the teaser for Reid's latest short simply left the normally talkative Captain rendered speechless because all he sent this time was a link with nothing else whatsoever. I can understand why.
An independent animator working out of Bristol, Olly Reid has been banging around the commercial and television world for quite a while producing commercials, TV bumpers and music videos. Some of his work is quite well known - he did the title sequence for Series Two of Aardman's popular Angry Kid series and has apparently created about fifty stingers for use on E4 - some of it less so but a quick spin around the site of Reid's Hot Head Films makes it very obvious that this is a very talented man.
Reid's latest work is DEUS, a short film he is directing - apparently - simply because he wants to. And while he's keeping quiet about plot and such the character designs and animation work in the recently released teaser are simply stellar, darkly fantastical stuff. This is a teaser in the purest sense, thirty seconds designed solely to show you the character design work and you can consider the job done perfectly. I am both teased and very, very impressed. The full work can't arrive soon enough for my liking. Check the teaser below.
