As the Berlin International Film Festival world premiere of new Australian western Red Hill fast approaches, the director has sent ScreenAnarchy the first teaser trailer for the film - which reveals an assured and stunning new directorial debut, visually reminiscent of No Country for Old Men and The Proposition.
The film's writer and director Patrick Hughes, who is busily finishing the film ahead of Berlin, told us: "Red Hill is an old school revenge western placed in a fresh new location, the Australian high-country. I can't wait to share it with the world and Berlin seems the perfect place to start."
Red Hill was filmed in 2009 almost entirely under the radar, in and around the town of Omeo in country Victoria.
Described as a modern day western, Red Hill is the story of a young cop moving to a small town, but news of a prison break and escaped murderer sends the town's law enforcement into panic. The film stars Ryan Kwanten, Tom E. Lewis and Steve Bisley.
