Pinky Violence Returns To Japan With SUKEBAN HUNTERS

Somewhere around a month ago I received a very excited email from Marc Walkow - Outcast Cinema honcho, New York Asian Film Festival man about town and Fantastic Fest compatriot - while he was on a trip to Tokyo.  Seems he had just seen a rough cut of Kazufumi Nakahira's Sukeban Hunters: Soukatsu Nagurikomi Sakusen and, in his words, classic 70's style pinky violence was making a comeback.

A spin off of the earlier Yakuza Hunter short film, there are a pair of Sukeban Hunters films currently in post, the cast of the first anchored by AV star Asami, well known to fans here from her work with Noboru Iguchi in Sukeban Boy, Machine Girl and Robogeisha.  And now Nippon Cinema has dug up what they're calling a trailer for the first film, though it's really more of an extended promo reel.  Running over five and a half minutes and built of some very raw footage - there are still number codes visible on some parts - it shows the film off in all its trashy glory.  Low budget?  You bet.  In need of some tightening up and polishing.  Absolutely.  But for fans of classic Japanese exploitation fare, this should scratch that itch nicely.  And no, it's not particularly work safe.
