There's a better than fighting chance that unless you're a serious Bruce Lee completist you've never heard of 1971 television series Longstreet. The story of an insurance investigator blinded in an explosion that killed his wife the series starred James Franciscus (Beneath The Planet of the Apes, The Valley of Gwangi) in the lead. But here's where Lee comes in. The pilot was written by Lee's student and collaborator on The Silent Flute, Stirling Silliphant, who wrote a significant character specifically for Lee in that first episode. Lee's part proved so popular that he was brought back for three more episodes throughout the single season run. The show ran for a single season before slipping off into obscurity, only to now be resurrected in Japan where the entire twenty four episode run - included the 90 minute pilot - have just been issued on DVD. It's not cheap, but if you loves your Bruce this will probably be the only chance you ever have to get it ...
