Malaysia's First Martial Arts Film: Kinta 1881

We've been keeping an eye on the progress of Kinta 1881 for a while now but with no footage or significant imagery from the film to show anyone we've kept quiet about it on the main site until now. But I've just taken a swing by the official site and lo! Four new behind the scenes videos have been added ...

Kinta 1881 is billed as the first Malaysian martial arts film, a tag that I won't argue with too much since although there have been martial arts components in previous Malaysian pictures this does indeed appear to be the first full on fight film to be produced in the country. Director CL Hor was responsible for The 3rd Generation, a film received, shall we say, less than favorably by the local press -- for a fun time look up some of the reviews, there are some hysterically funny ones out there -- but judging by the key art from this he at least seems to shoot some good looking film and he's loaded his cast here with real life champion martial artists.

But what we really want to know about are the fights, yes? There's no official trailer yet but there is some behind the scenes footage from a pair of fight sequences included in the behind the scenes clips and if these are any indication it's going to be fast and intense with some nasty falls and blood spilt on screen. At one point it certainly appears as though one fighter was knocked unconscious from a kick to the head.
