Andrea Molaioli makes his feature film directing debut with La ragazza del lago - a.k.a. "Vieni a casa mia" (former working title). Medusa Film S.p.A. is tentatively scheduled to release the movie theatrically in Italy on May 25th.
The screenplay for La ragazza del lago was written by Molaioli and Sandro Petraglia, based on the novel Don't Look Back (Se deg ikke tilbake!) by Karin Fossum. According to the website of production company Indigo Film s.a.s., the movie's principal cast is as follows: Toni Servillo, Nello Mascia, Marco Baliani, Giulia Michelini, Fausto Sciarappa, Denis Fasolo, Franco Ravera, Sara D'Amario, Heidi Caldart, Alessia Piovan, with the participation of Anna Bonaiuto and Omero Antonutti, and with Fabrizio Gifuni and Valeria Golino.
Here's a brief synopsis for La ragazza del lago from the website of the Courmayeur Noir in Festival: "It is eight in the morning as Marta, munching on a donut, walks home after having slept at her aunt's house. A van pulls up: Mario, a mentally challenged young man, convinces her to follow him to his farm. An alarm immediately goes off: Marta is only [six]." (Note: Marta's age has been mistranslated into English as "seven"; as the Italian version of the synopsis states, "Marta ha solo sei anni".)
