As was previously reported here on ScreenAnarchy, the screenplay for Yakuza Wives: Burning Desire was written by Kôji Takada, and was ultimately based on the allegedly non-fiction book Gokudô no onna-tachi by Shôko Ieda. The movie starred (listed order corresponds to order on now-defunct official subsite) Reiko Takashima, Aya Sugimoto, Jundai Yamada, Naoki Hosaka, Ai Maeda, Misaki (a.k.a. Misaki Mori), Kanako Fukaura, Shun Sugata, Hideo Sakaki, Naomasa Musaka, Yutaka Matsushige, (Shôko) Ieda, Akira Yano, Minoru Ôki, Naoya Makoto, Michihiro Yamanishi, Masataka Naruse (a.k.a. Tadashi Naruse), and Susumu Terajima.
Toei Video Co. Ltd. (Tôei Bideo K.K.) released Yakuza Wives: Burning Desire theatrically in Japan on March 26th of last year, and on sale DVD (DSTD-02442) there on October 21st of last year.
