Taking my cue from news dropped in the DVD Maniacs forum, a quick look at a surprising AnimEigo license - because it's a S&M, prostituion, potentially a little pink, story - not a period, samurai, or anime title. It's Banmei Takahashi's (高橋伴明 ) 1994 'Le Nouveau Monde Amoureux', 「愛の新世界」 or 'Ai No Shinsekai' under another of its' titles, and it's due November 7th 2006 on R1 USA DVD.
Synopsis issued to retailers reads, "Suzuki Sawa stars as a fun-loving dominatrix and serious amateur actress juggling complicated relationships with both her acting and sex-business friends (and clients). When you need a big audience for your new play, it's always good to have a Yakuza boss as your whipping boy! Based upon a non-fiction book written from interviews with 64 young women in the Tokyo sec industry." and then there's another one at Facets, "Banmei Takahashi's (Tattoo) breakthrough erotic drama is based on a story by photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, and features a wealth of images by the controversial artist. Sawa Suzuki and Reiko Kataoka star as workers in the Tokyo sex trade--the former is a morally adventurous S&M dominatrix and the latter is a more conservatively minded call girl. The first official Japanese production to be shown with uncensored full frontal nudity, the film was an award winner at numerous festivals. In Japanese with English subtitles." but let's have a review from MidnightEye instead, a little more realistic...

Not sure if Takahashi's film truly fits into this or is more of a Yakuza oddity, simply showing my interest and research progress (and sharing it online) for those interested. Oh, Sho Aikawa is in this...
