According to the Fangoria article "Ghosts, gore and more on DVD from MTI" (May 5th), MTI Home Video is scheduled to release Wolfgang Büld's Twisted Sisters on DVD in the U.S. on August 15th. As was reported here on ScreenAnarchy back on March 22nd, Epix Media AG is scheduled to release the movie on sale DVD (21993; PAL, region 2, in English) in Germany on May 11th; it released the movie on rental DVD (21994) there on March 23rd. (Fangoria's claim that it "broke the news about" Twisted Sisters on April 11th is laughable.)
The screenplay for Twisted Sisters was written by Büld. The movie stars Fiona Horsey as Jennifer/Norah, Andrew Southern as Alan, Paul Conway as Detective Inspector Caffrey, Eden Ford as Detective Sergeant Woodgate, Pietro Herrera as Bob, Frank Meyer-Brockmann as Olivier, Timo Jacobs as Tom, Peter Cotton as Jennifer's father, and Joan Blackham as Jennifer's mother.
Here's a description of Twisted Sisters from the English-language official subsite for the movie: "TWISTED SISTERS is a dark thriller dealing with the personal struggle between two twins. Jennifer was given everything a girl could wish for. Norah learned to survive on nothing. Now it is time for the tables to turn. Locating, stalking and mimicking the life of her sister, Norah decides it is time that she had it all - and no one will get in her way! ¶ This is a dark film which delves into the mind of a twisted young woman whose lust for the 'perfect life' is fuelled by jealousy and hatred towards her sister. Ever since the twins were separated at a young age Norah knew that she had the harder life. Years later and Norah finally tracks down Jennifer. She lives in a nice flat, has a loving boyfriend and seems to be living a dream. Alan, a hard-working young doctor, is devoted to Jennifer and sees their relationship growing stronger day by day - especially with the news of Jennifer's pregnancy. From his point of view nothing could be better! Unfortunately Norah does not share his idyllic sentimentality. ¶ A Wolfgang Büld script would not be the same without a little controversy - and the catalyst for discussion is the way in which Norah becomes the deranged serial killer. The angst of watching Jennifer in a happy relationship with Alan drives her to despair and her warped mind can only think of the end result. Her plan is to discredit Jennifer by taking on her persona, looks and life. Unfortunately for Jennifer this means killing, castrating and mutilating a string of young men before the final showdown! ¶ Suddenly a whole new world is revealed to Jennifer, one that means she can no longer be alone!"
In related news, MTI Home Video is scheduled to release Osamu Fukutani's The Last Supper (Saigo no bansan) on DVD in the U.S. on October 10th. As was reported here on ScreenAnarchy two days ago (May 3rd), The Last Supper tied with David Slade's Hard Candy for second place in Dead by Dawn's Audience Award for Best Feature competition.
As was previously reported here and there on ScreenAnarchy, MTI Home Video is scheduled to release Ryan Nicholson's controversial Live Feed on DVD in the U.S. on September 12th.
