I went to that Royal Albert Hall gig early last week, for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Got 20 minutes of new (but typical) Gervais for my money, saw Sean Lock too - someone I prefer to a large extent - and he was my favourite part of the two or so hours of stand-up put on. Shame I was in the vertigo-inducing 'telescope zone' of the very last row of seats, and the sound was terrible.
Anyway, more positively, Gervais is a naturally funny off-the-cuff kind of guy, difficult to tell though (sometimes) if he is joking with intentially faulty thinking or just a bit daft at times. You know, naturally or controlled in that 'uncomfortable' kind of comedy he likes to go into. Reminded of all this as I've been fiddling with YouTube recently (it's my new 'Google') and turned up some nice stuff on there which shows (like the free Podcasts) what he can do.
I suppose any show you might read about around here could have some clips on there somewhere, even though they're not keen (at YouTube) on infringement of copyright. Anyway, take a look at a few bits... there's all kinds over there.
