Paprika. by Satoshi Kon. New Project for 'Paranoia Agent' Director.

Yes, he is also the man behind some of the highly respected and loved anime films of recent years, 'Perfect Blue', 'Millennium Actress' and 'Tokyo Godfathers' too. It was 'Paranoia Agent' most recently though, the mixed reviews or responses were understandable, probably more so than the plot of the show itself, for this winding tale of communications technology, the human relationships affected by them, and strange crimes possibly committed by a character called Shonen Bat. Still, there's a lot of both substance and style in there, and perhaps I will get more from it on a second viewing sometime.

Anyway, details are immerging of the 2006 film from Satoshi Kon. Based on the 1993 book 'Paprika' by Yasutaka Tsutsui, it apparently revolves around "a female detective who investigates criminal cases by entering the dreams of subjects" according to Anime News Service. Some staff details are also revealed to include script by Seishi Minakami (who penned the 'Paranoia Agent' script too) who has worked alongside Satoshi Kon himself for this one, and music by Berserk composer Susumu Hirasawa.
