Tartan purchases U.S. and U.K. distribution rights for Yûichi Satô's PRAY (PUREI) - a.k.a. "Prayer

From the Variety article "Pix picked up in Pusan; mart expansion planned" (Oct. 13): "The Pusan [International Film F]estival's market and its PPP [Pusan Promotion Plan] co-production forum ended Wednesday with a flurry of deals and the announcement of plans for a massive market expansion.... Deals announced at the end of the market included the following: 'Heirloom' sold by Taiwan Cinema to Tartan Films for the U.S.. Tartan also bought Japan's 'Prayer' and 'Booth' from Pony Canyon for the U.S. and U.K., and Korea's 'Cello' for the same territories."

As was reported here on ScreenAnarchy back on September 1st, Yûichi Satô's Pray (Purei) - a.k.a. "Prayer" - is scheduled to be screened at Cinema Rise in Tokyo from October 15th to November 4th; Yoshihiro Nakamura's Booth (Bûsu) is scheduled to be screened there from November 5th to November 25th.

The screenplay for Pray was written by Tomoko Ogawa. The movie's principal cast is as follows: Tetsuji Tamayama, Asami Mizukawa, Mitsuyoshi Shinoda, Katsuya Kobayashi, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, Sanae Miyata, and Fumiyo Kohinata.

The screenplay for Booth was written by (Yoshihiro) Nakamura. The movie's principal cast is as follows: Ryûta Satô, Hijiri Kojima, Mansaku Ikeuchi, Makoto Ashikawa, Maiko Asano, Masaki Miura, and Mai Takahashi.
